Job Cards vs Job Plans and Why Work Package should be part of Core Maximo
Lets familiarize ourself with these...
A job card is a detailed description of work that is performed for a work order. You use the Job Cards application to create and manage job cards. When you create a job card, you specify planning and scheduling information that can be used by the Task Cards and Work Order Tracking applications. Does this ring a bell ?…
Job Cards and Job Plans are same except that Job Cards have more information and more attributes to capture. I strongly feel, this additional information to capture the WorkStation, Customer, Category, Class should be extended to Core Job Plans Module as well so that we can effectively use it for Automobile or Manufacturing industries.

What is a WorkPackage:
In IBM Maximo, a work package refers to a grouping or container for work orders. Work orders are tasks or activities that need to be performed, such as maintenance, repairs, or inspections, within an organization. Work packages are used to organize and manage these work orders more efficiently.
A work package in IBM Maximo typically includes a set of related work orders that share common characteristics or objectives. These characteristics may include location, asset, priority, resources required, and scheduling information. By grouping work orders into work packages, organizations can streamline their maintenance and operational processes, making it easier to plan, assign, and track work.
How to create this WorkPackage:
Navigate: Maintenance Planning:
Create a new Workpackage
Add the PMs that is required
Click Generate Workorders.
An umbrella workorder will be created with all the Workorders linked to it.
The individual workorders will be available in the Plans Tab.
The individual workorders can be executed and the Workpackage can be Approved and closed.

This will be useful for those industries where the preventive maintenance happens together for multiple types of PMs.
Please note this feature is available only in Maximo for Aviation and I guess if this is added to core Maximo it would be really useful.
Meanwhile, we can always adopt the concept for efficient maintenance planning.
Cheers,
